About the WebinarWednesday, May 24, 2023 | 1:00PM – 2:00PM The Mental Health Parity and Addiction Equity Act of 2008 (MHPAEA) is a federal law requiring health plans to apply similar financial and treatment limits to mental health/substance use disorder benefits and medical surgical benefits. At a high level, mental health parity says that if a group health plan covers medical/surgical benefits and also covers either mental health or substance use disorder benefits, the plan may be subject to the requirements under the Mental Health Parity Act (MHPA) and the Mental Health Parity and Addiction Equity Act (MHPAEA). In other words, these rules don’t mandate that mental health or substance use treatments be covered, but instead says that if they are covered then they must be covered in the same manner as medical and surgical benefits. In December of 2020 Congress passed into law the Consolidated Appropriations Act. This Bill addresses how the DOL, HHS and IRS will assess how well employer plan sponsors and Health Insurance Carriers are keeping up with the compliance requirements under the Mental Health Parity and Addiction Equity Act (MHPAEA). Plan sponsors must complete extensive analysis regarding the broad plan limits, Quantitative Treatment Limitations (QTLs) and Non-Quantitative Treatment Limitations (NQTLs) of their plans. Part of the compliance requirements are that each plan sponsor completes a detailed analysis of their plan, both written and in operation. Bim Group has partnered with Self Insured Reporting, a marketplace leader in health plan claim analytics and financial reporting and specifically their NQTL Analysis division to assist employer groups with addressing these compliance requirements. NQTLAnalysis.com has become the marketplace in creating comparative analysis documentation required for Mental Health Parity compliance. Jordan Smith, Chief Compliance Officer at NQTLAnalysis.com will be presenting an informational webinar on Wednesday, May 24th reviewing NQTL and how his team can assist employers with these requirements.
